An Education Pack inspired by the drawings included in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2024 exhibition.

A hand draws a single blue chalk line vertically upwards from the bottom of the frame. '10 ways to begin' is written to the left of the hand.

Drawing is Free has created an Education Pack inspired by the drawings included in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2024︎︎︎ exhibition.

10 ways to begin invites visitors to the exhibition to engage with drawings through drawing. It is written from the belief that the best way to learn about drawing and to understand it is to draw.

So where and how to begin a drawing when you can start anywhere?

Starting from the premise that the first lines are the hardest make, this booklet is designed as a recipe book for beginning. It invites you to act as if you were in a test kitchen while working through these exercises, applying what you discover to your own practice.
Three copies of the TBWDP education pack, each with customised covers
The cover and back pages of the printed version of the booklet are made with drawing paper. You are invited to make your first mark, your first lines, right there - on the front page, fearlessly, at the exhibition or wherever you are.

Printed versions of the pack are available at the exhibition, which will open to the public at Trinity Buoy Wharf from 3rd October.

Visit the Trinity Buoy Wharf Prize Exhibition and Events

The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize︎︎︎ exhibition will be on show at Trinity Buoy Wharf︎︎︎ in London from Thursday 3 October to Wednesday 16 October 2024. The exhibition is open to the public from 11am to 6pm daily, and is free to visit. It will then tour to Salisbury Museum, Falmouth Art Gallery, Drawing Projects UK in Dundee, and Waterside, Manchester until October 2025.

Chloe is also taking part in a drawing symposium and education event to support this year’s prize exhibition.

On Thursday 3 October 2024 I draw a line from me to you - a day spent making lines of connection through drawing: A One-Day Drawing Symposium︎︎︎ will take place at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London in association with the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2024, kindly supported by the Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust as part of The Big Draw Festival. This special symposium offers an inclusive and dynamic exploration of drawing – a celebration of drawing that combines hearing from drawing experts - artists, designers, architects and others who have drawing at the heart of their practice - and will include active drawing sessions, and a drawing performance.

On Friday 4 October 2024 there is a day of education events︎︎︎ designed to introduce the exhibition and to support those interested in art and design education as a student or educator. Chloe will be running an Educators’ Session from 10-11am (UK time) introducing the TBWDP24 Education Pack.

We hope you'll enjoy the education pack - and will be inspired by the #TBWDP24 too!
